From Andy Warhol to…Jeremy Scott: The pop art revolution

As many people, for not saying everyone here in America, yesterday I watched the super bowl game. At the halftime, Katy Perry gave a show sponsored by Pepsi.  It has been a very funny show involving dancers dressed up as sharks. She is bubbling, she is like a pink gum with pop rocks inside. What make her such an adorable crazy pin-up? She is obviously known for her pop songs but also and mainly because of her extravagant and colorful universe with her katy-perry-jeremy-scott-cosmo
funny and outrageous garments. It wasn’t long after the game that I realized that all her outfits on stage were made by Jeremy Scott. He has been her favorite designer since before she was famous. Back in 2008 she walked straight to him and said: ‘Hi, I’m a singer and you’re my favorite designer. One day, I hope to wear your things onstage. My name is Katy Perry.'” Bingo few years later he is dressing her almost exclusively. Amber-Rose-X-Rita-Ora-In-Jeremy-Scott-X-Moschino
This new pop art genius was named creative director of Moschino in October 2013 “It’s the only other label that uses humor in a way similar to mine.” says the fashion designer.

He likes comparing himself to Lichtenstein“I like to think of my work and the way people approach it in the same way people approach a Lichtenstein painting,” They are both using bright colors and comics in their arts. Indeed in his design most important thing is comic print, he often uses Pop culture icons for his inspiration as Mickey Mouse. Jeremy is to fashion what Andy Warhol is to art!

He fusespop art with fashion to create some really outrageous designs. The overall style is very Avant- Garde… throughout whatever theme he choose for the collection. His inspirations range from the tv show “Happy Days” to Care Bears with machine guns to fast food! He understands the pop culture and mix element from our day to day consumption lives into fashion. Exactly the same way the pop artists approached art back in the 60s. He developed the term “fast fashion”  with his collection he presented as the creative director of Moschino. He added the famous American guilty pleasure logo with a witty golden-arches logo, a familiar red-and-yellow color scheme, and sweaters with slogans like Moschino: over 20 billion served.  The “fast fashion” motif extended to retail has been followed by other luxurious brands. Chanel used the supermarket theme for it collection in Paris.

His designs are worn by stars music scene who love his extravagant creations. We could mention his collaboration with famous MTV names and popular models, queens diva such as Katy Perry, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Rita Ora, etc. Gaga-Jeremy-Scott Big part of his career he also collaborated with Adidas and exclusive collections that place Adidas on the next level as chick and stylish sport brand. Karl Lagerfeld believes that Jeremy Scott is the only one who can replace him in Chanel scandalous runway spectacle. Jeremy Scott is seen as fashion’s last rebel. A man who knows no bounds and no conventions in regards to style, design or concepts.
